Song Birds

Building off the work of experimental composers like John Cage, “Song Birds” utilizes algorithmic representations of flocking to create rhythms and musical phrases. Notes are more likely to flock is they are harmonically related; they will often group in major thirds and other harmonic intervals. As notes hit the edges of the frame they will play and bounce off. Note size is related to its pitch; the lower the note, the larger it is. The viewer can also control the notes by clicking and dragging the mouse around the frame.
